Haiti in Translation - An Interview Blog Series
Dear Colleagues,
I would like to direct your attention to a new interview series I am conducting and curating on the H-Net Haiti website. The series, entitled Haiti in Translation, features interviews with scholars and translators of fiction and non-fiction relating to Haiti in Haitian Creole, English and French.
The goal of the series is to highlight the work of translators working on projects relating to Haiti, to draw attention to new additions to the field of French and Francophone studies broadly defined, and to provide instructors with information about newly available texts.
Please see my first interview with Lesley S. Curtis and Christen Mucher as we discuss their translation and critical edition of Émeric Bergeaud’s Stella (NYU Press 2015). This is the first time Stella has appeared in English and is a wonderful critical edition for scholars and students of Haitian literature, Francophone literature, and 19th Century letters.
Happy Reading!
Nathan H Dize
