We are happy to announce that registration is open for the 2023-2024 MA program “African Sustainable Communities” at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. The program is a three semester program starting in October 2023. After one year of study at BGU, students undertake individual community development projects in local communities in Africa. We are looking for students from a wide range of disciplines who want to engage in vibrant dialogue and critical thinking around questions of sustainable development.

Michigan State Univeristy is hosting an interdisciplinary National Endowment for the Humanities Institute in summer 2023. The institute will explore the opportunities and challenges of engaging in data-informed, Internet-based humanistic research and public scholarship as it applies to the study of enslaved people of African descent. The institute organizers are researchers on Enslaved: Peoples of the Historical Slave Trade (Enslaved.org; https://enslaved.org).
