On behalf of the H-Africa editorial collective, it is our pleasure to introduce to you all our new Book Review Editor, Andreana Prichard

Andreana Prichard is the Wick Cary Associate Professor of Honors and African History in the Honors College at the University of Oklahoma. Her research focuses on the intersections of gender, politics, and religion in eastern Africa, and particularly on evangelical development initiatives. Her first book, Sisters of Spirit: Christianity, Affect, and Community Building in East Africa, 1860-1970, was published by Michigan State University Press in 2017. She is currently working on a project about the history of orphanages, child sponsorship programs, and American evangelical missionaries in Kenya. Dr Prichard’s scholarship has appeared in the Journal of African History, Women’s History Review, International Journal of African Historical Studies, and Religions. In addition to serving on the Campus Tenure Committee and the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Women’s Issues at OU, she also serves as the historian on a state advisory board and volunteers on behalf of local political campaigns.
