In preparation for submission of a panel to the American Historical Association meeting in Seattle in January 2021, we are interested in hearing from scholars who are working on forms and experiences of collaboration in Africa under colonial occupation.
The tentative title for the panel is "Revisiting the 'Bargain' of Collaboration: Africans, Europeans, and the Colonial Imaginary," and it is co-convened by Benjamin Lawrance (University of Arizona), Vusumuzi R. Kumalo (University of the Free State).
If you would like to propose a paper for this panel, please send an expression of interest to Benjamin Lawrance by email [benlaw(@)arizona.edu]. Please indicate your proposed title, include a draft abstract of up to 300 words describing the argument, data, sources, and nature of intervention, and a 250 word biographical statement. Papers may focus on Africans in Africa, or outside the continent. We welcome comparative approaches, as well as proposals that explore collaboration in non-African colonial contexts.
The deadline for AHA submissions is rapidly approaching. Please send your proposal no later than January 31, 2020.
