The Toyin Falola @65 Conference: African Knowledges and Alternative Futures

Countdown to TF@65 Conference: Update (1)

Dear Conference Participants:

As we count down one month exactly to the Toyin Falola @65 Conference holding in Ibadan from January 29 to 31, 2018, we are overcome with excitement in anticipation of what will be a “Conference of Conferences” and an unforgettable experience. The Conference Committee is indeed looking forward to welcoming you all individually to Ibadan very shortly. Kindly note the following bits of information please:

Acceptance letters: We have since sent acceptance letters to more than 400 persons whose abstracts were deemed satisfactory upon assessment. Please do notify us if you have not received yours; we would be glad to re-send it right away.

Invited/special panellists: In addition, more than 50 distinguished academics have accepted our invitation to present on special topic panels being organised for the conference.

Co-Host sponsored Panels: In support of the conference, several of our institutional co-hosts have also organised pre-formed panels on special topics for the upcoming conference.

Full papers submission: The tentative date remains 15 January 2018, as announced in the conference call for papers, and on the conference website.

Publication of papers: This is simply to reiterate that selected papers will be published after post-conference review and amendments.

Registration and payment: Thanks to everyone for making the tremendous effort to beat the deadline of 30 December for pre-registration and payment of the conference fee. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation indeed.

No Onsite Registration: Kindly note again that there will not be an opportunity for presenters to make registration payments at the conference venue on conference days. We regret that we cannot provide the option of paying cash onsite. Only international participants who have pre-registered already will have this option available. So please make every effort to pre-pay, if you have not done so already. Thanks in advance for your kind understanding.

Co-authors: A gentle reminder also that each individual attending the conference is required to pay for their own participation, independently of whether or not their proposed paper is co-authored.

Presentations: Projectors will be available for presenters wishing to make PowerPoint or other visual presentations. Please be sure to bring your own laptop as well as a flash drive as backup in case of compatibility issues.

Conference Program: The draft conference program will be circulated in due course at which point you might have the opportunity to make any corrections concerning your presentation paper proposals before we go to press.

We will continuously keep you updated going forward. If there is any way at all that we can make your conference experience more pleasurable, please do let us know right ahead of time, and we will try our best. You can reach us by email at conference65@toyinfalolacenter.org, and by phone at the numbers below.

Kind regards,

Jumoke
