VIRTUAL WORKSHOP ON THE MIDDLE EAST IN MEMORY OF TRISHA TSCHOPP

We are organizing a virtual workshop in memory of our friend Trisha Tschopp who passed away last December. Trisha was a scholar of modern Palestine and Israel. Her research explored the relationship between science and Arab society in Palestine from the late Ottoman Empire until the end of the mandate period. You can read her obituary here: https://howstrishadoing.wordpress.com

Dedicated to her memory and sponsored by Middle East Studies and the Institute of Arts and Humanities at the University of California, San Diego, this workshop welcomes submissions for papers from scholars at all levels and departments. Proposals may cover all academic disciplines and approaches to the Middle East, defined broadly, and span the early modern and modern periods. We particularly welcome proposals that focus on Palestine and science studies.

This workshop will be held virtually on May 21-22, 2022.

Please submit a 250-word paper proposal in English no later than March 1, 2022.

Selected proposals will be announced before March 30, 2022.
