On Thursday, Nov. 18, at 7:00 p.m. CST (Central time), Marc Dollinger, Rhoda Goldman Chair in Jewish Studies and Social Responsibility at San Francisco State University,  will discuss his latest book, Black Power, Jewish Politics: Reinventing the Alliance in the 1960s. The free event is part of Rhodes College’s Communities in Conversation lecture series and the Markell Family Jewish Literary and Cultural Arts Festival at the Memphis Jewish Community Center. Hosted online via Zoom, it will feature an interview with Dollinger by Dr. Justin Rose, Chair of Politics and Law and a professor of Africana Studies at Rhodes College and Dr. Jonathan Judaken, professor of History and the Spence L. Wilson Chair in the Humanities.

Dollinger's book has been a touchstone in contemporary debates about the relationship between Black and Jews in America. This conversation will revisit his revisionist history and explore its ramifications for thinking about race, identity politics, Zionism, and anti-Semitism in the age of Black Lives Matter.
