Passing of Marek Web

H-Judaic mourns the passing of Marek Web (1938-2021), longtime research associate at the YIVO Institute in New York.  Born in Poland, Web was twice exiled:  first as a child, when he and his family escaped the Nazis, and again in 1967 when he was targeted by Poland's Gomulka regime as a Jew and was forced to flee again, this time to the United States.  Web participated in several significant publications of YIVO and also was well-known to researchers there.  He left behind an oral history, in English, that recounts the highlights of his traumatic early life:

H-Judaic extends deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
