In Nishmat Hayyim, Menasseh ben Israel writes the following about Elijah the Prophet:
(1) He is the Angel of the Covenant, who sits on his glorious throne by the side of all who have entered under the wings of the Shekhinah at the hour of their death. (2) He is the angel who teaches wisdom to the people, who is described in the Talmud as having appeared to some of the sages and taught them Eliyahu Rabbah and Eliyahu Zuta. (3) He is the angel who heralds the message of salvation. (4) He will turn the heart of the parents to the children, and the heart of the children to their parents (Malachi 4:24).
Does anyone know a source for (1) and (2)? I would be very grateful.
Many thanks in advance.
