H-Judaic mourns the passing of Prof. Yirmiyahu Yovel (1935-2018), emeritus professor of philosophy at the Hebrew University, winner of the Israel Prize, and one of Israel's best known public intellectuals, who died following a long battle with cancer.  Prof.  Yovel published luminous volumes on Kant and  a highly influential two-volume work entitled Spinoza and Other Heretics (1989), among many other books and articles.  An extended Wikipedia article describes his life and work (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yirmiyahu_Yovel); see also the Hebrew website of the Israel Prize (http://cms.education.gov.il/educationcms/units/prasisrael/tashas/yirmiyahuyovel/korothayimyovel.htm) and the obituary in Haaretz (https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-prominent-israeli-intellectual-occupation-critic-dies-age-83-1.6163890)
