Responsibilities of the position will include teaching five courses per academic year, one of which would be a non-language course on an aspect of Hebrew literature or Hebrew-language based culture. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to be involved in curriculum development, language placement, and hiring and supervising a yearly language fellow. Ability to guide independent study in pre-modern Hebrew (Biblical, Mishnaic, Maskilic) should the need arise would be ideal. 

Requirements for the position include M.A or Ph.D. in Hebrew or Hebrew pedagogy (or comparable experience teaching Hebrew at the College or University level); native or near-native fluency in Hebrew and English; demonstrated excellence in the teaching of Hebrew language at all levels; proficiency in contemporary methods for the study of Hebrew; and skill in using technologies that enhance foreign language learning.
