Passing of Prof. Esther Starobinski-Safran

H-Judaic is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Prof. Esther Starobinski-Safran (1938-2023), emeritus professor in the Philosophy Department of the University of Geneva, where she taught the history of Jewish Thought.  Her books, in French, include a history of Kabbalah, authored with her distinguished father, Alexander Safran, Chief Rabbi of Geneva (and previously in Roumania), as well as Essais de philosophe juive and Le Buisson et la voix.  Prof. Starobinski-Safran was also a renowned expert of the thought of Philo of Alexandria.
