CFP: Jews and Social Media

The Journal of Jewish Film and New Media seeks submissions for an upcoming special issue or focus (a group of articles as part of a general issue) on Jews and Social Media. Some areas of interest:

  • Jewish Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok
  • Jewish hashtags
  • Jewish social influencers
  • Jewish podcasts
  • Jews and gaming on YouTube, Twitch, and/or Discord
  • Antisemitism and/on social media
  • Judaism and social media
  • Jewish education and social media
  • Jewish celebration on social media
  • Holocaust education on social media
  • Holocaust commemoration on social media
  • Holocaust denial on social media
  • Zionism and social media

We welcome submissions from junior or senior academics, advanced graduate students, and independent scholars.

Those interested should submit a proposal of at least 300 words with a working bibliography and brief vita of relevant publications (and/or presentations) in a single Word document to by September 1, 2023. Authors of proposals chosen for potential publication will be notified by September 15, 2023, with complete drafts due by December 1, 2023. Final article manuscripts will need to be at least 8000 words using University of Chicago style.
