The Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies of New York University invites applications for the Maurice Greenberg Chair in Holocaust Studies. The appointment is at the senior rank (associate or full) with tenure and will begin on September 1, 2023, pending administrative and budgetary approval. The appointee is expected to have a significant record of scholarly publications based on original research in any aspect of Holocaust Studies, including history, art, literature, philosophy, religion and memorialization. We welcome applicants who work in interdisciplinary, transnational, or emergent fields of study.

The appointee is expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, the latter including readings in Hebrew and original languages.

The chair is a joint venture of the Skirball Department and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The appointee will be expected to work closely with the Museum in the development of programs of scholarly interest to both institutions.

Compensation:
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $160,000 at the tenured rank of Associate Professor and $160,000 - $225,000 at the tenured rank of full Professor.
