H-Judaic is saddened to learn of the passing of Bernard (Dov) Spolsky (1932-2022) emeritus professor of linguistics at Bar Ilan University, and one of the world experts in the field of socio-linguistics. Prof. Spolsky authored and edited two dozen books and some 250 articles and chapters. He is best known in Jewish Studies for his: THE LANGUAGES OF THE JEWS: A SOCIOLINGUISTIC HISTORY (2014).
