H-Judaic is shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely and unexpected passing of Dara E. Goldman (1971-2022), Associate Professor of Spanish and Director of the Program in Jewish Culture and Society at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.  Educated at Columbia and Emory, and author of Out of Bounds: Islands and the Demarcation of Identity in the Hispanic Caribbean (Bucknell Univ. Press, 2008), she was active in the Latin-American Jewish Studies Association and other scholarly bodies, and recently coedited a volume of AMERICAN LITERARY HISTORY on " Twenty-First Century Jewish Writing and the World."  A brief biography of Prof. Goldman may be found at https://spanport.illinois.edu/directory/profile/degoldma.  Professor Rachel Harris, who passed along this sad news, reports that she and all who knew Prof. Goldman are heartbroken.  We extend deepest condolences to her  husband, parents, students, colleagues, and friends.
