Volunteer at DuPont Kalorama Museum Walk Weekend

Dumbarton House is recruiting! Join our Team!

Do you have a passion for early American history, the decorative arts, architecture, or museums in general? Dumbarton House, a Federal period  house museum in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood recruits dedicated volunteers to “bring history to life” in a variety of roles. Dumbarton House, headquarters of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, offers volunteers an opportunity to increase their knowledge of early American history, life in Washington during the early days of the Republic (circa 1800) and Federal period decorative arts and architecture, which they then share with museum visitors.

New Volunteer and Docent Training is currently set for January 22nd and January 29th, 11am-4pm. Are weekdays not good for you because of work or school? Not a problem! We're looking to add training on weekends and evenings.

Training is led by museum staff and independent scholars and researchers, covering topics including: Within These Walls: The Architecture of Dumbarton House by Curator Scott Scholz; Federal Period Decorative Arts and Dumbarton House by independent historian Frances White; and The History of Our House and study tours and techniques by Education Manager Stephanie Boyle. All materials are provided. Free parking.

For questions or to learn more, please contact Education@DumbartonHouse.org or 202-337-2288 x222.
