SurDocs Manual

It is a very difficult and intimidating system to navigate–you need your square and lot–so you should know the whole history of your property lot numbering changes before you begin–consult the Baist atlases.

It includes many maps, many types of maps--survey books, condo books, assessment and tax books, subdivision books, and/or county books–it is very difficult for any non-expert to know which is the appropriate one (often you need the most recent). -- ED.]

The District Office of the Surveyor is the legal office of record for land records in the District. The system allows the public to search for land records throughout the City. The “Quick Search” and the “Advanced Search” are two types of searches conducted in the system. The Quick Search allows anyone looking for information about a certain lot to search the system for that information. The Advanced Search allows searches using Book and Page references directly to Surveyor’s Office records.
