Charles Sumner School Museum and Archives’ Open House Event Feb 25, 2017
You Are Invited! Celebrate Black History Month this Saturday, February 25th at the Charles Sumner School Museum and Archives’ Monthly DCPS Pride! Open House Event. All Museum Exhibits are Open to the public from 10am until 3pm. Get to know DC’s public school Museum and Archives and learn about the wonderful legacy and history of DC Public Schools . In honor of Black History Month, the Museum will feature a special film showing at 1pm of Phil Portlock’s well-regarded film, “The Dunbar Legacy: Passing the Torch of Excellence 1870-2013”. The Museum Director will moderate a discussion with some of Dunbar’s most illustrious Alumni including Portlock and share interesting connections between Dunbar and the Sumner School and also the development of Secondary Education for African Americans in the DC Public Education System.
