Call for Papers Deadline:  November 1, 2015

The Journal of Military Aviation History at Abilene Christian University and the Old Primero Historical Foundation seeks submissions for a conference to be held March 9-11, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona.  Deadline for submission of paper proposals is November 1, 2015.  The conference hotel will be at the HILTON TUCSON EAST, 7600 E Broadway, Tucson, Arizona 85710.  The Hilton Tucson East is situated in the heart of Tucson and offers breathtaking views of the Santa Catalina Mountains, not far the University of Arizona, Tucson Convention Center, and Tucson International Airport.

Submission guidelines:  The theme is Revolution and Military Intervention in Mexico.  In anticipation of the 100th anniversary of Pancho Villa’s attack on Columbus, New Mexico and the subsequent Punitive Expedition in northern Mexico, the 2016 conference will examine the events in the Mexican Revolution leading up to Villa’s attack and the impact of the Punitive Expedition on U.S.-Mexican relations, developing military technology, and the transition to mechanized operations in the desert of northern Mexico. 

We welcome all topics bearing on the Mexican Revolution, U.S.-Mexican relations, air power, mechanized operations, and any subjects relating to the rise and decline of Pancho Villa in the context of the Mexican Revolution, and those papers that explore American military operations along the border and in Mexico, 1915-1917.

  • Individual Paper: send a title, 150-word abstract and one-page vita.
  • Complete Panel: send a title and brief description of the theme; 150-word abstract for each paper, one-page vita for each presenter, and suggested chair/discussant.
  • Round Table Panels or Special Discussion Presentations: send a title and brief  description of the topic and a complete list of the participants and moderator/discussant with vitas.
