Organizing Panel for AHA 2020

I am a final-year PhD candidate at the University of Houston and I am seeking participants for a panel on postwar Texas political activism for the 2020 AHA meeting in New York.  There are currently two people on the panel.  My paper looks at Rabbi Moshe Cahana, an Israeli activist in Houston who used his experiences fighting British colonialism as inspiration for being an activist for African American and Chicano civil rights across Texas.  The other paper on the panel examines AIDS activism in Houston and Dallas’ gay communities and how these efforts contributed to the dissemination of safe sex awareness throughout Texas.    We are looking for two more papers that would overlap with the theme of political activism, from the left or right, within the state of Texas.

If you are interested in joining this panel, or are interested in being a commenter for the panel, email me, Timothy Quevillon, at trquevillon@uh.edu
