Syllabi and essays on Pacific empires

Subscribers of H-Borderlands may find the last syllabus particularly relevant.

In the December 2016 issue of the journal Amerasia, a group of scholars published short think pieces under the title Pacific Empires Working Group Forum. The contributors were: Eiichiro Azuma (Penn), Katherine Benton-Cohen (Georgetown), David Chang (Minnesota), Takashi Fujitani (Toronto), Paul Kramer (Vanderbilt), Jordan Sand (Georgetown), and Jun Uchida (Stanford). The journal has now posted syllabi from five members of the group on line. As those of us teaching on the North American academic calendar start putting together syllabi for the Fall semester, I thought these syllabi (as well as the journal essays) might be of interest.
