The American Indian and Indigenous Community Center and the Department of History at Virginia Tech are pleased to host a webinar on the stimulation of Nahua culture and Nawat language in Kuskatan (Western El Salvador). Despite cultural and physical attacks on Nahua people and their culture since 1524 by the Spaniards, and later by the Salvadoran government, community members continue to fight and promote their culture and language. Three Nahuas engaging in diverse aspects of activism, knowledge keeping and sharing, and language revitalization will share their experiences, goals, and thoughts. This panel will be largely in the Spanish language with live subtitles in English.
