The Ghetto Fighters' House would like to invite you to the upcoming program in the
International Virtual Lecture Series "Talking Memory":
The Escape from Novogrudok
With special guests:
On September 26, 1943, about 230 Jews accomplished a daring escape from the Novogrudok (Navardok) labor camp in Belarus (White Russia) via an underground tunnel dug by the inmates over a period of several months. About half of the escapees were discovered and shot by the Germans and the others succeeded in reaching the nearby woods, to join the partisan units which were operating in the area, particularly the unit under the command of Tuvia Bielski.
In the program, we will focus on the less familiar escape from Novogrudok, and talk with three people who have dedicated their lives to commemorating this incredible act of resistance.
This is a joint program with Classrooms without Borders and the Rabin Chair Forum - George Washington University
