Journal Watch 2017/1

H-Sport is pleased to announce the release of the latest Journal Watch for the first quarter of 2017. The Journal Watch identifies scholarly sport-related articles and book reviews published in five languages (English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese) during the last three months.

Call for new H-Sport Journal Watch Contributors, Thanks Duncan Jamieson

Duncan Jamieseon, who has served as an H-Sport Advisory Board member since the beginning of H-Sport and as an H-Sport Journal Watch contributor since the resource began in 2011, has stepped down from his role as a Journal Watch contributor. The H-Sport team thanks Duncan for his dedicated service to H-Sport and looks forward to continuing to work with him as an Advisory Board member.

CfP: Gender Discourses, Heroes, Sport Nationalisms, and Scandals: The Public Perception of Soccer in the 19th and 20th Centuries

Modern soccer developed in 19th century Britain, but became one of the globally most popular sports in the 20th century, especially since it provided a politically and economically extraordinary impact. These positions were controversially discussed in the press, especially the last FIFA scandals, related to the World Cups in Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022). 

Call for abstracts - UK Sport Development Network (UKSDN) 2017 Conference

The University of St Mark and St John is delighted to announce that it will be hosting the UK Sport Development Network (UKSDN) 2017 conference in conjunction with Active Devon. The conference will take place on Friday 17th November 2017 on the University of St Mark and St John Campus in Plymouth.
