Call for Expressions of Interest to Host

NASSH Pre-Conference Workshop, May 2023

Expressions of Interest are sought for proposals from those interested in hosting the annual North American Society for Sport History (NASSH) Pre-Conference Workshop in 2023 in Washington, D.C. The project is designed to workshop and develop papers for a themed special issue of the Journal of Sport History with publication expected in 2024.

The workshop is intended to bring together new and established scholars to develop a publication that:

1)    Makes a significant contribution to sports history.

2)    Has the potential to draw scholars from beyond the field of sports history into dialogue with the field while enhancing dialogue and debate within and around sport history.

Expressions of Interest should address both criteria.

It is expected that the workshop will take place at the NASSH conference venue immediately before the conference begins on May 26-29, 2023. NASSH has a budget allocation of $5000 to support the event, and expects to be able to provide some limited on-the-ground support regarding the venue.

Expressions of Interest are due by September 9, 2022.
