QUERY: American literature that deals with body modifications

Victoria Woodhull's picture

Hi there,

Does anyone have any suggestions with regards to US-American literature (novels, short stories, dramas, poems) that deal with body transformations (especially plastic surgery)?

I'm looking for US-American works of fiction that deal with:

- ageing, bodily decay, illness
- self-enhancement (plastic/cosmetic surgery, new technologies that enhance the human: genetic engineering, transplants, cyborgs etc.)

Although all works of literature are welcome, high-brow literature would be preferred. I'm not limited to a particular period. Works of the 21st, 20th, 19th century etc. are welcome.

Suggestions can be sent to hypatiawoolf@gmail.com

Many thanks in advance,
