Donald Trump Versus American Exceptionalism: Toward the Sources of Trumpian Conduct

If you haven't seen it already, I suspect a few H-AMSTDYers will be interested in one of the latest H-Diplo publications titled "Donald Trump Versus American Exceptionalism: Toward the Sources of Trumpian Conduct ." In it, the author argues Trump asserts a "normal nationalism, extreme but not exceptional." It entails a large scale re-framing of American self-identity away from the "city on a hill" to something like a Third World Country and international laughingstock. That's a re-framing that doesn't seem likely to sit well with many Americans....unless he's right.
