Advice on archival sources relating to the Canary Islands

Dear colleagues,

I'm researching trans-imperial encounters in the Canary Islands from the 1790s to the early 19th century, specifically relating to Spanish attitudes towards British vessels en route to the Australian colonies (often with large numbers of convicts aboard).

Could anyone recommend any particularly rich archival collections likely to hold diaries or formal documents from Spanish merchants, officials or residents in the Canary Islands please? I'm particularly interested in rich descriptive accounts of everyday life that might mention interactions with Britons sojourning in port, rather than commercial records.

Many thanks for your collective wisdom and advice.
