I was very sad to hear the news of Tracey Banivanua Mar's death, far too young. I found this tribute to her, written by colleagues in Australia, and thought others might enjoy reading it:
I have Tracey's wonderful book, Decolonisation and the Pacific, in front of me as I write. It begins with the story of her great aunt, Bubu Taka, who remembered when white men were just a rumor and who became a global citizen. Tracey too was a global citizen and I wish we had had more time to listen to her important voice.
