The Teaching History Conference

4th Biennial Conference: "Challenges in Teaching and Learning History"

Call for Proposals

Online | May 7–8, 2021

Proposal Deadline: Saturday October 31, 2020

The Teaching History Conference is a community of practice that fosters collaborative K–16 conversations among history educators at all levels and across all sectors. The Conference began at UC Berkeley in 2015 as a way to bring together practitioners and scholars across the K–16 continuum to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by history educators at all levels.

The theme of the 4th bienniel conference, which will be held virtually, is "Challenges in Teaching and Learning History: Issues of Pedagogy and Content." We invite proposals for 90-minute workshops, seminars, roundtables, and panels that explore the ways in which K–16 collaboration can help us explore pedagogical challenges and contested or controversial histories. Sessions can be pre-recorded or delivered live (presenters' choice). All sessions will be recorded and available to conference attendees for later viewing. We are also delighted to welcome Dr. Cate Denial and Dr. Andrés Reséndez as keynote speakers.

We strongly encourage proposals from history educators working in all different locations of the profession, including K–12 teachers, university and college professors, graduate students, education researchers, and history practitioners from the nonprofit worldespecially proposals that feature or model collaboration between these sectors.
