MHS-NEH Long-Term Fellowship Program

Apply by January 15, 2019

The Massachusetts Historical Society in Boston will offer at least two MHS-NEH Long-term Fellowships for the academic year 2019-2020. These fellowships are made possible by an award from the National Endowment for the Humanities, an independent federal agency. The stipend, governed by an NEH formula, will be $4,200 per month for a minimum of four months and a maximum of twelve months. The Society will supplement each stipend with a monthly allowance of $562.50 for housing and professional expenses. NEH guidelines require applicants to have completed their training for the terminal degree in their field (ordinarily the Ph.D.) by the application deadline.

About the MHS: Manuscripts form the heart of the collections at the MHS. The Society houses more than 12 million pieces in 3,600 separate collections of personal papers and institutional records. The Society’s collections also include several hundred thousand books, more than 10,000 broadsides, 30,000 18th- and 19th-century pamphlets, 2,500 maps, 120,000 photographs, and 660 works of art.
