This panel will explore the relationship between social policy and party politics. Topics may include: the path from "Rooseveltian" social inclusion to political revanchism; the role of expanding purchasing power in transforming the social base of the Workers' Party; the collateralization of cash transfer by the private sector; the macroeconomic constraints on social policy makers; the relationship between social policy and the market; and much else.
