Scholar in Residence - Latin American History

University of Colorado - Boulder, Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization and the History Department

The Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization and the History Department invite applications to join our new, interdisciplinary community of Scholars in Residence. This position will start Fall of 2020. The Benson Scholar in Residence is a one-year, non-tenure-track, Scholar-in-Residence, at-will appointment.

Selections will be made on the basis of candidates’ relevance to our theme for the year, “Community or Disunity?” as well as on their ability to promote the larger mission of the Benson Center as described below. The History Department is specifically interested in applicants whose research and teaching expertise is in Latin American history and who contend with the theme of “Community or Disunity?” from Latin Americanist perspectives.  Scholars in Residence should expect to teach two courses per academic year (one per semester). They will participate regularly in the extended community of both the Center and the Department of History through attendance at lectures, engagement with students, and participation in the academic life of the University. The appointment will begin in August 2020.  Scholars-In Residence will be given office space and University of Colorado privileges.

The anticipated starting salary is $40,000.00

The University of Colorado offers excellent benefits, including medical, dental, retirement, paid time off, tuition benefit and ECO Pass. The University of Colorado Boulder is one of the largest employers in Boulder County and offers an inspiring higher education environment.

Candidates are expected to hold a terminal degree at the time of appointment.

Review of applications will begin on April 22nd, 2020 and will continue until the position is filled.

Note: Application materials will not be accepted via email. For consideration, applications must be submitted through CU Boulder Jobs.
