Media Movements: Civil Society and Media Policy Reform in Latin America has won the AEJMC-Knudson Latin America Prize 2017. Granted by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the annual award is given to a book or project concerning Latin America or coverage of issues in Latin America and must make an original contribution to improve knowledge about Latin America to U.S. students, journalists or the public.

Media Movements examines how social movements across Latin America have adopted different strategies for changing media policy and reform, providing an assessment of the impact of citizens' mobilization on policy-making, as well as the effects of legislation on ownership, funding, community media, non-profit media, and public media.
