Global Confernce on Women and Gender

to be held in-person March 16-18, 2023

This year's theme is: Education as Freedom and Transformation

This interdisciplinary conference on Women and Gender brings together participants from all academic fields to engage in wide-ranging conversations about education as a catalyst for freedom and transformation. Contributors are encouraged to consider education in the diversity of its forms, and how “traditional” and/or “alternative” models, both inside and outside of the classroom, intersect with the politics of gender. What are the social, economic, and intellectual consequences of denying women and marginalized communities access to education? Alternatively, how may education serve as an act of resistance to systems of oppression throughout the world?

While privileging women and gender, topics may include but are not limited to:

Submissions from any academic discipline are welcome, including but not limited to art, history, philosophy, religious studies, sociology, psychology, environmental science, medicine, biomedical ethics, economics, political science, gender studies, communication studies and literature. We also invite professionals in nonacademic settings to submit proposals.

Both panel and individual paper proposals are welcome.

Please submit a 350 to 500-word abstract by October 1st,  2022 at:   http://cnu.edu/gcwg

Please include with your abstract: your full name and your academic or professional affiliation and rank (graduate student, professor, artist, etc.) Abstracts that greatly exceed the 500-word count may not be considered. We will also include a few competitively selected undergraduate panels in the 2023 conference. All submissions will be peer reviewed and those accepted will be notified no later than December 15th

Paper presentations will ideally be 15-20 minutes in length and can be considered for our annual publication
