On War & Society Podcast – Human Testing in the North

Hi everyone,

I would like to alert you all to an episode of the podcast On War & Society that I think many will find of interest. Dr. Matt Wiseman, a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Toronto, spoke to me, among other things, about human testing that was done on the Inuit in the Canadian North. It's a startling discovery that both complicates the historiography of Indigenous bodies, yet also fits quite nicely into it. Check it out on Apple Podcasts or Soundcloud!

Re: Kirchubel on Gross, 'The Myth and Reality of German Warfare: Operational Thinking from Moltke the Elder to Heusinger'

Overrated by whom and how? People often compare armies as a whole and in that someone might have overrated the Germans as they clearly lost the war.

However, there were aspects of the German army which were vastly superior - as for example the officer selection and education system.
Other aspects - like the strategic planning - sucked big time.

Thus, I believe a more nuanced approach is in order other than ' The Germans'.

Workshop: Territories of Critique in Psychology

I would like to draw your attention to the workshop 'Territories of Critique in Psychology' because it addresses many issues concerning the history of emotions, cultural practices of emotions and psychological conceptualizations of emotions. The workshop 'Territories of Critique in Psychology: Lübeck Colloquium on Psychological Humanities' will take place from September 14th until September 15th in Lübeck, Germany.
