1619: Journal of African American Studies is the online journal of the African American Studies program at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), a branch of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system.  The journal is devoted to the multifaceted and interdisciplinary study of African Americans/Blacks.  

1619: Journal of African American Studies aims to promote and make available research, analysis, and study of the various aspects of the African American/Black experience through which readers may access works from various disciplines and perspectives.  The journal is intended to reach a diverse academic, student, and community-at-large audience which includes K-12 teaching professionals interested in integrating African American/Black studies in their classrooms and curriculums.  

The journal is published biannually and accepts submissions ranging from 3000 to no more than 10000 words, including footnotes or endnotes and references.  Manuscripts should be submitted through the Journal's submission portal or directly emailed to the Editors at brownw@ccsu.edu

Deadline for the Winter/Spring 2021 edition is December 1, 2020
