Professorial Lecturer in American Studies with specialty in Latinx Studies for AY 20-21
American University, Critical Race, Gender, & Culture Studies Collaborative
The Critical Race, Gender, and Culture Studies Collaborative (CRGC) in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment in American Studies with a specialty in Latinx Studies for Academic Year 2020-21 at the rank of Professorial Lecturer. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence in August 2020.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. by August 2020 in American Studies or other relevant field and provide evidence of strong teaching skills. Experience with on-line instruction welcomed. The successful applicant will teach three courses per semester, including AMST-240, Poverty and Culture; AMST-200, American Dreams, American Lives; and one upper-level topics course determined by the candidate’s expertise. In addition to teaching undergraduate courses, responsibilities include holding office hours, advising students, and participating in department, college, and university service activities.
We especially welcome candidates with demonstrated experience teaching American Studies and Latinx Studies courses from a transnational perspective and/or a focus on social justice, environmentalism, or indigeneity.

The American Studies Program offers a BA and a minor. The program is part of the Critical Race, Gender, and Culture Studies Collaborative, which also houses programs in African American and African Diaspora Studies, Arab World Studies, Asian Studies, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
