The SHA graduate council is now soliciting graduate students to attend its annual luncheon at the Southern in Birmingham, Alabama this November! The Graduate Student Luncheon, “Publishing in the 21st Century,” will seat graduate students with publishers, bloggers, podcasters, and digital historians for small-group discussions of academic publishing, virtual networking, social media utilization, and more. Confirmed scholars include Andrew Frank (Florida State University), James Thomas (Center for the Study of Southern Culture, University of Mississippi), Stephen Brain (Mississippi State University), Megan Brett (Roy Rosensweig Center for History and New Media), and Lisa Bayer (University of Georgia Press). To ensure that our groups cohere and because space is limited, SHA’s graduate student council is asking that interested graduate students preregister for the luncheon by sending a short (150-200 word) abstract and CV to shagraduatecouncil@gmail.com by October 15. Participants must be members of the Southern Historical Association and registered for the conference. The Graduate Student Council will do their best to assign students to groups with similar interests. Please follow the SHA Graduate Council on Twitter for updates: https://twitter.com/SHAGradCouncil/.
