I have written a paper examining the targeting by the Democratic party of white as well as black people and the underlying economic motives for this action during the white supremacy campaigns of 1898 and 1900 in North Carolina. I am seeking additional panelists and a commentator for a session to be offered at the 2019 Southern Historical Association's annual meeting in Louisville, Ky that could be organized on one of the following themes: 19th-century Populism, post-Reconstruction race and politics, dissident politics in the South, political economy, or disfranchisement.
