The Department of History at Auburn University seeks to make a tenure-line appointment in African-American History, at the junior or senior level. Period and specialization within African-American history are open. The appointment will begin August 16, 2023. The appointee will teach in the World History core curriculum, graduate courses in modern US history, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialty. A PhD in History, American Studies, African American Studies, or a related field, is required. Advanced doctoral candidates whose dissertation defense will be held prior to the position appointment date are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.
