The annual Researching New York Conference is currently accepting paper and panel proposals on any and all aspects of New York State history for this year's conference. Roundtables, media presentations, workshops, and other non-traditional presentations are especially encouraged. Proposals are due July 15 via email to resrchny@albany.edu

The Researching New York conference meets annually in November at the University at Albany, SUNY, bringing together historians, archivists, public historians, graduate students, museum curators, teachers, documentarians, and more to share their work on New York State history. This year's conference will feature a screening of Driving While Black, with Ric Burns and  Gretchen Sullivan Sorin, scheduled to air nationally on PBS in 2020.  Based on the groundbreaking research of historian Gretchen Sullivan Sorin and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ric Burns, Driving While Black explores the role of the automobile in the lives of African Americans during the Jim Crow era of the 1930s to 1960s.
