Synopsis: The Center for Global Christianity and Mission at Boston University operates the Chinese Christian Poster project (ccposters.com). With support from the Henry Luce Foundation, and fourteen academic institutions, the CGCM has digitized, tagged, and translated 470 posters published in China between 1907 and 1951. The posters are fully searchable in Chinese and English. For classroom use, students can cluster and curate their own exhibits on a large range of topics represented by the posters, including popular Christian theology, ideal images of the modern home, the promotion of biomedicine, and visions of national salvation. This site provides an alternative way of viewing Chinese history in the first half of the twentieth century.
