Money, Power, and Piety in Muslim Southeast Asia
We are organizing a panel for the conference of the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) to be held March 26-29, 2015 in Chicago. A preliminary abstract follows, but will be revised in accordance to the papers selected.
Dear all,
I’m researching historic landing sites of undersea telegraph cables in Southeast Asia. In particular, I’m trying to track down information about a recorded cable landing in 1917 at Hotei, Taiwan. I’m guessing that Hotei is probably part of what is now Kaoshiung City, and that Hotei is an old Japanese name for this area. But so far I’ve been unable to confirm this or find any other info about Hotei.
We are happy to announce the addition of two new editors to the H-ASIA team, Emilia Bachrach and Aaron Mulvany.
They will join Monika Lehner and Ryan Dunch as network editors. We also have Sumit Guha, reviews editor, and Ming-Te Pan, subscriptions manager. Linda Dwyer and three new editors are in various stages of training for the Commons.
