A Future for Memory: Conversations with Masao Okabe and Chihiro Minato

Tuesday, May 18, 2021 | 7-8:15 PM (Pacific Time)

Join MOA for a virtual conversation with Masao Okabe and Chihiro Minato—featured artists in A Future for Memory: Art and Life After the Great East Japan Earthquake, facilitated by exhibition curator Fuyubi Nakamura. The conversation (pre-recorded in Japanese, with English subtitles) will be followed by a live Q+A session with Chihiro Minato (in English).

The artists will discuss their artistic practices and involvement in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, and provide background for their works on view in A Future for Memory. Both artists have collaborated on many projects including, Is There a Future for Our Past?: The Dark Face of the Light, which represented Japan at the 52th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition in 2007.
