Public Advertisement for Faculty Position Opening in “Comparative Culture”

Starting Date:
April 1st., 2022, or September 1st., 2022

Position and Rank:
One full-time (tenured) position at the Junior Associate, Associate or Full Professor level. (Regardless of rank at the time of appointment, the new faculty member will be hired with tenure, and there is no tenure review.)

Teaching Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a course on “Comparative Culture” and a few other humanity lecture courses on culture, thought, and history. The successful candidate will also conduct seminars and guide undergraduate thesis projects. The language of instruction in these classes is Japanese, but there are opportunities for teaching in English, too. In regard to the contents of the “Comparative Culture” course, the position does not place any restrictions on specific regions or perspectives, but the candidate should include comparative studies of Japanese culture and society.

The candidate will offer their courses on Meiji Gakuin’s campuses in Japan.
