Call for Applications: MA Program in Contemporary East Asian Studies, University of Kansas

 

The Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) at University of Kansas (KU) is accepting applications for Fall 2021 admission to our MA program in Contemporary East Asian Studies. This interdisciplinary areas studies degree program focuses on 20th and 21st-century East Asia that will provide students with 1) in-depth, interdisciplinary knowledge of the modern history, politics, economies, and societies of one East Asian country, e.g. China, Korea, or Japan; 2) broad knowledge of modern East Asia, and 3) social science research skills and methods appropriate to international area studies.

 

Since 1959, the Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) at the University of Kansas has been a designated Title VI National Resource Center for the study of East Asian languages and cultures. With over seventy affiliated faculty members, we offer more than 250 courses fully or partially devoted to East Asia. Our interdisciplinary M.A. program in Contemporary East Asian Studies not only provides students with a broad knowledge of East Asia but also offers them the opportunity to focus on the modern history, politics, economy and society of one specific East Asian country.

 

KU is situated in Lawrence, Kansas, and is a vibrant college town. The state's flagship university has many resources for academic  support. The deadline to apply for Fall 2021 admission is May 1, 2021 (international students) and Jun 1, 2021 (domestic students).
