Dear members of the H-Net community,

The Journal of Indian Ocean World Studies (JIOWS) is currently calling for
manuscripts and special issue proposals. The Journal of Indian Ocean World Studies (JIOWS) is the creation of the Indian Ocean World Centre (IOWC) at McGill University. It publishes original peer reviewed articles by established and emerging scholars in the social sciences and related disciplines that contribute to an understanding of the Indian Ocean World (IOW) and its constituent parts, from early times to the present day. The IOW is here defined as a macro-region running from Africa to the Far East, comprising both maritime and terrestrial zones. It is published bi-annually by the McGill University Library ( and is indexed
on Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory, the PKP Index, and the Directory of Open Access Journals. It is also
open access and does not charge any fees of authors. We welcome articles from established and
emerging scholars alike, especially from those based in the Indian Ocean World. We urge you to
consider the JIOWS for your ongoing research and hope that you will circulate this call to other
potentially interested parties. Please browse the links posted below to read the current issue and a stylesheet for submissions to the journal.
