Surviving the Pandemic in South Asia - Sept 28 9am
Dear Colleagues
As another week passes, India is almost certain to seize the unenviable mantle of most impacted country in the Covid Pandemic. Cases and deaths are increasing dramatically in India, and Nepal and Bangladesh are following suit. Even in countries like Sri Lanka where the virus seems contained the economic fallout is inescapable.
So it is to this pressing and expanding tragedy that we turn our attention at the Rutgers South Asian Studies Program. Next Monday (Sept. 28, 9am Eastern Time) we'll be having an amazing event on Covid in South Asia with presentations from NGO leaders doing work on the ground with those most affected by the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. Anita Patil-Deshmukh from PUKAR in Mumbai, Imran Ahmed from the Shakti Foundation in Dhaka, and Usman Jawed from Mazdoor Dhaba in Delhi will each speak about how their organizations have been working to mitigate the impact of the pandemic, and then we will have a Q&A session.
